Why is it everything in life looks different when your suffering from depression?
I have been depressed for 9 months now after something happened in March (dont wanna go into detail). I am considering seeing a counselor because its getting worst and Im having crazy thoughts. It seems like everything looks different now. Its like I pay attention to more things and its like I see happiness in everyone else's life. Its like I dont look forward to anything anymore, Im just going thru the motions in life. Can anyone relate, that life is just percieved differently when depressed when really it is the same as it was before?

- I've been depressed for years and I agree with you on seeing more things that you never noticed before. Funny thing is, I see things differently and I know I do and the bad part is I don't know how I saw things before or what it even feels like to think differently than how I do now.
- I can definitely relate. I went in a very fast downward spiral in two months and attempted suicide by wrecking my car into a concrete median on the interstate. Needless to say, in those two months I felt completely worthless and that everyone else was not going through the pain I felt. I also felt life just wasn't all it was cracked up to be. That it's just a cycle of making enough money to live, then die. Right now, I am feeling that way again. Which is why I'm in the mental health section! lol The brain isn't producing any happy chemicals like serotonin or dopamin (sp?) and then you're left with nothing but bad thoughts to think. That's how it was explained to me when I was in the hospital.
- Life is different while being depressed Everything seems to be soooooooo slow everyone annoys me and all i wanna do is scream, scream, scream
- You see things differently like the happiness in other peoples life because you envy them
