What are the benefits of playing an instrument?
I've been thinking about startinng something new, like the flute. I have experience with the clairenet but it never really excited me and I lost my interest for it and stopped. I also fear that its "too late" for me to start because Im about to turn 18? Are there actually any benefits of playing an instrument? What are some monetary, physical, and mental benefits?

- Learning an instrument is firstly really good fun, but it also improves your musical ear and learning something new always exercises your mental abilities. You're not too late, I started learning guitar last year and I'm same age as you, I picked it up really quickly! I also play bass as my main instrument, but in the past have played recorder, violin and the ocarina!
- Better intellectual capacity Discipline and patience Relieves stress Sense of achievement Communicate your emotions Emanate your personal style Teamwork Physical workout Bragging Rights Fun! I play the flute, I think the main reason I stick with is is that you feel so good after learning a piece and performing it, and that you can do something that once seemed hard is a great encouragement to keep practicing.
