How would you think about the average human life span?

How would you think about the average human life span? Although most people wish to live long lives, attempting to significantly extend the average huamn life span wou be a mistake. If achieved, this would place a enormous burden on resources, lowering the quality of life for everyone.

  1. We are wasting our 'precious life of human-beings', like a driplet in geological time......, billions of years......, our life ends in a moment...., why do our life, given by God, utilise it....?
  2. I don't want to live to be 100 but I enjoy hearing stories of those who have. It's not a pleasant thought knowing that people are dying of terminal illnesses such as cancer, maybe if we could arrange a cure so that we could all just pass away in the night, life would be so much better.
  3. I have often thought we should spend more time and resources on making life more pleasant, and less on trying to extend our life span. Most of us are going to die around 75-85 anyway.
  4. What extends the average human life span is not the elderly living longer but the reduction of infant mortality. Personally, I plan to pass the century mark and then be shot by a jealous husband.
  5. Resource use depends on how we use them so if we learn to cut the amount of resources we use, we can live longer with no net worsening of thigns from a carrying capacity point of view.
