I'm planning a "fieldtrip" for my organizations officers and we will be going to Chicago. We will be taking 6 kids and 1 adult. Where would be the best place to stay, remeber we're on a "school" budget

- No where in the loop. I would stay out by the airport and "train" it in.
- http://www.arlingtonhouse.com/ a small hotel on the north side -- downtown prices will kill you.
- Try Hosteling International. It's a facility in the middle of downtown Chicago, very close to public trainsportation, Grant Park, Michigan Ave., the Art Institute, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, etc. As you probably know, hostels are popular around the world and are just catching on here. It's a low-cost way to save money and still see a big city like Chicago. Lots of foreign kids travel throughout the United States by staying in hostels. They are no-frills accomodations, but clean. Most room have two or four beds, some have a bath in the room, others have to use the communal bath down the hall. The hostel has a communal kitchen where you can go out and buy your own food and cook it there, which is another way to save money and also have a good time. Since this is mostly kids you're bringing and you're on a budget, I can't think of a better place to stay in Chicago. Group rates begin at $27 a night... can't beat that ANYWHERE.
