Political Strategy Republican Knowledge Base

Is the Republican Political Strategy a good idea? Thanks to carelessness we now know the Republicans political strategy is based on trying to further destroy the US economy and undermine the global war on terror. Is this a good strategy or is it perhaps treasonous?
Is Islamophobic Amerifascism a good political strategy for the Republican Party? Don't you think that most Americans are waking up to the fact that 99% of Middle East Muslims are VICTIMS of America, not threats to it?
Is this what the Republicans call political strategy? Republicans are happy now that Arlen Spector quit the Republican Party. Is it a wonder that Repubs don't have a strategic sense of battle?
Do you think Healthcare crisis opposition is a political strategy to undermine Obamas presidency? I was wondering if anyone knows of or has any information, on any Republican attempts in past years to try to deal with the Health care crisis. I know Ted Kennedy wanted it reformed for over 30 years. Were their ever any Republicans in the past decades vocalabout doing something about the health care crisis,
Is it clever strategy for republican tea bagger Sarah Palin to claim tea baggers are racists? Does this suggest she is about to resign her position in the tea bagging group or will she try to make a Hitlerian stand that if she calls it "patriotism" then it must be peachy keen? I'm an overweight, sedentary republican who is having a really hard time following the political trajectory of thebig bosomed gal from Wasilla.
Remember that time when the South led America to the best political and ethical strategy? Me neither. And a political party is nothing more than its constituency which, in the case of the current Republican party, is little more than Utah, Idaho and the SOUTH. They've been wrong about everything else in history; why would you follow them now?
Is Palin's lack of intelligence a political strategy? Are the Republicans having her act unintelligent so that come Thursday night, she can blow everyone's mind with just how smart she may actually be?
Is this the motto of the Republican Party? "Real men don't think things through." The Republican Party, once hailed as the “party of ideas,” has become the party of stupid. Now, I don’t mean that G.O.P. politicians are, on average, any dumber than their Democratic counterparts. And I certainly don’t mean to question the often frightening smarts of Republican political operatives. What I mean, instead, is that know-nothingism — the insistence that there are simple, brute-force, instant-gratification answers to every problem, and that there’s something effeminate and weak about anyone who suggests otherwise — has become the core of Republican policy and political strategy. The party’s de facto slogan has become: “Real men don’t think things through.” In the case of oil, this takes the form of pretending that more drilling would produce fast relief at the gas pump. What about the experts at the Department of Energy who say that it would take years before offshore drilling would yield any oil at all, and that even then the effect on prices at the pump would be “insignificant”? Presumably they’re just a bunch of wimps, probably Democrats. And the Democrats, as Representative Michele Bachmann assures us, “want Americans to move to the urban core, live in tenements, take light rail to their government jobs.”
Is the American political spectrum broken? One of the major problems in American political consciousness today comes from a misrepresentation of the political spectrum. This is partly the result of a deliberate effort to put all of America's enemies (fascists and communists) into the same basket after World War II, and a deliberate effort by the American "Right" to classify everything that they oppose as "Leftist". After World War II the Republican Party was struggling for survival and was in the process of reinventing itself. Part of the political strategy of some Republicans was to portray the Democratic Party of Truman and Franklin D. Roosevelt as "Red," thereby associating "Liberalism" with "Socialism". It was a common tactic during the 1950s to accuse Democrats of being "Communists" or "Communist sympathizers", a tactic that worked well during the McCarthy era and has had a lasting impact on how Americans view politics. Full Article: http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/redefining_the_political_spectru.htm Ghost Rider: I wasn't talking about Obama or Hillary, I was talking about the American Political Spectrum.
Do you think the Republican "Obama Scare Tactics" backfired? I do and I knew that they would. The Republicans and Hillary are using the political strategy of "old". Most people in today's society are a lot more sophisticated and inclusive; these same people are not turned on by what divides us but are more concerned about what unites us. Obama is looking more and more like the future and Hillary and the Republicans are looking more like the "Days of Old".
Political strategy question-> Why is it that.......? everytime a die-hard, radical Republican gets frustrated on here, he starts out his questions and answers with 'Why is it that...'?
Do Republicans want to start a "Race War" via the media in hopes of helping McCain win in November? It seems like racial division is the Republicans new political strategy.
What's the most clever political strategy of the 21st century? I think it's the Republican creation of the "liberal media". It's really genius, if you think about it. Where do most Americans get their news? The mainstream media. If Republicans ever say or do anything stupid, Americans will hear about it through the mainstream media - so Republicans can just blame the messenger. I think it's an exceptionally clever, and completely underhanded and unfair, strategy. Oh, don't get me wrong, I know the media is at least partially biased. I think MSNBC is to liberals as Fox News is to conservatives: everyone knows they have somewhat of an agenda. But the conservative "liberal media" claim goes deeper than that. Do you REALLY think every single major newspaper, every major TV station, and every major news website is run by bloodthirsty liberals? That's what the Republicans would have you believe every time an unfavorable story runs. I mean, freaking Katie Couric is a raging liberal now? Seriously? The Republican reflex, of course, is to immediately blame the media for their own leaders' failures.
According to the following news article, are the Clintons succeeding at their 2012 political strategy? YAHOO NEWS Republicans shed 'underdog' status in White House race According to an Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll, John McCain has attracted disgruntled GOP voters, independents and even some moderate Democrats to pull even with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. http://news.yahoo.com/
What do you think of the Dems new political strategy....forget governing, try to drive wedge btw GOP/Tea Party? This seems like another disaster waiting to happen (Dems are proving themselves quite capable of political fk ups recently).........What do you think?? http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31991.html “Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical — yet time-sensitive — opportunity for Democratic candidates,” the DSCC writes. “We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record.” The memo urges Democratic candidates to force their opponents to answer a series of questions on health care, taxes and some of the favorite causes of the far right: “Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen? Do you think the 10th Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum health care coverage standards? Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism and should never have been created in the first place? Do you think President Obama is a socialist? Do you think America should return to a gold standard?” If a Republican candidate says no to any of the questions, the memo says Democrats should “make their primary opponent or conservative activists know it. This will cause them to take heat from their primary opponents and could likely provoke a flip-flop, as it already has several times with Mark Kirk in Illinois.” tall green alien...........So the Democratic strategy is call the Tea Partiers "morons". That will work about as well as calling them "unAmerican" don't you think?? (Remember how it backfired miserably....)
Are Democrats charging Tea party with Racism purely as a political strategy? Apparently so, even though they admit there is NO evidence that the Tea Party is any more racist than any other group...so why keep spreading the lie? excerpt... Mary Frances Berry admitted this at the Politico: Professor of American Social Thought and History, U. Penn. : Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness. And, there you have it. Democrats are flinging the r-word as a political maneuver. We all knew it. Now they admit it. http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/07/prominent-black-activist-admits-brandind-tea-party-racist-is-effective-tool-for-naacp-democrats/ LIBERALS! Aren't you going to denounce this liberal professor and ex Govt worker for helping to spread these lies about another political group? I thought you guys fought against racism and prejudice
Why are the Republican Senators wasting time over Sotomayor ? It is a lost cause , a done deal, there is not even a a snow flake chance in Hades she will not be accepted who cares is she really qualified or not She is in no matter what GOP why are you wasting time over this Is this the best political strategy you got in your political playbook right now . This is from an Old School Conservative
Republicans, once hailed as the “party of ideas,” have become the party of stupid. Opinions on this viewpoint? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/08/opinio... Know-Nothing Politics By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: August 7, 2008 So the G.O.P. has found its issue for the 2008 election. For the next three months the party plans to keep chanting: “Drill here! Drill now! Drill here! Drill now! Four legs good, two legs bad!” O.K., I added that last part. And the debate on energy policy has helped me find the words for something I’ve been thinking about for a while. Republicans, once hailed as the “party of ideas,” have become the party of stupid. Are repubs going through the same withdrawal that dems underwent from 1968-2006 b/c of the Southern Strategy? Let me rephrase because of lack of space. "Do you think that Republicans are going through the same flaw in the American Electorate that Democrats went through because of over reliance of the "Southern Strategy"?" Furthermore by relying on this strategy has the republican national party allowed the democratic national party to grab many other key factors in the American electorate. Lastly what would you do if given the task to expand the party? Which demographic would you target and why? Would you expand? Why or why not? (Btw these aren't HW questions. Just came up with them I want to know what would be your political strategy. Lastly what do you think of the questions lol) (Asked this in elections that section is not as active as politics is xD) Joe and Jim thanks you understood what I was asking. I'm not being demonizing in any sense. Just a purely political strategy question.
What caused the Republican Party to betray its basic principles? The Republican Party--the party of Abraham Lincoln, the party that led the struggle against slavery--is now the party of racism. Radical Republicans impeached Democratic President Andrew Johnson from Tennessee because he supported a moderate approach to reconstruction. U.S. Grant came along and began a ten-year struggle to give economic and political opportunities to the former slaves. After the troops left the South, all kinds of Jim-Crow laws, segregation, and racist organizations such as the KKK developed in the South. Most of the old ugliness of the South has now been eliminated, although the Republicans still rely on their racist "Southern Strategy" developed by Nixon in 1968. Now of course they not only demonstrate racism against African Americans, but also against Latinos, using many of the same old words and tactics. What caused this turn around? Was it Grant's alignment with the railroad interests, robber barons, and the rich in general? Or FDR? I've seen a number of provocative comments, and I'd like to keep the question up a bit longer in the hopes there will be more. While Lincoln may not have enjoyed the full support of the Republicans of his day, and Johnson's policies were little different from his, it is Honest Abe who is most associated with the founding of the party and the freeing of the slaves. Similarly, while the Emancipation Proclamation was a means to an end (winning the war and saving the union) and not an end to itself (and Lincoln never pretended otherwise), it is this act which best characterizes his presidency. It was this act more than any other which earned African-American loyalty in the first place. Desegregation of the military by Truman was something I hadn't thought about; I appreciate that comment. It seems that Republican alignment with the moneyed interests in the late 19th century, and which continues today, and Democratic sympathies for the worker were the most important factors in this.
Is this political tactic occurring? Some people believe that since McCain will be the Republican nominee that Republican voters are voting against Clinton by voting for Obama in dem primaries where independents and republicans can vote. However some of these people will vote for McCain in gen election. Is this political strategy true or just a myth?
What political party INVENTED the "cut and run" strategy? Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, etc.......Republican! The truth hurts. The Republicans, for one reason or another, have done more "cut and runs" than any political party in modern history. Some people still blame the Democrats.....when there was a Republican President. Give me a break!!
Is civil disobedience a patriotic strategy when your party does not have political power? You would have to be over-dosing on the kool-aid, not to agree that liberals rebel when a republican is in office. A political figure who is perceived to represent capitalism will be hounded every day in office, by liberals and their media; it starts with name calling and then taking the opposite position of anything good or bad done by the republican. I guess if you think capitalism is evil, anyone who represents it, is a criminal, in your eyes. Republicans are far, far from perfect but they don't do malicous harm to their country because they are not in power, anywhere close to the level of liberals. Liberals do in fact want bad things to happen to the USA, to reflect negatively of their opponent, to gain political power. e.g. liberals want the economy to go bad if cons are in power. If you have nothing else to offer than socialism, selling negativity seemd to be all libs have... Since the USA is capitalistic, isn't deliberately harming your own country treason?
Isn't it obvious that Health Care Reform for Republicans is completely political? This version that passed is very central. There is no public option. It clearly states against gov't funds to pay for abortion. The CBO found that it's fiscally responsible and will lower our national debt over the next few years. It helps corporate America by bringing in 30 million more customers to the insurance industry. In fact, it sounds very much like a bill that Republicans would love to vote for. Doesn't it? I personally felt that Democrats conceded too much and wished that there were more sweeping changes but whatever. So why are Republicans so adamantly against it? Hmmm, could it have anything to do with the fact that their main and most important political strategy is to have Obama fail in this his most important political referendum? Oops, that didn't go so well. And why are Conservatives on Y!A so against it? Could it have anything to do with the fact that they believe and follow whatever FOX news tells them, because FOX news is the propoganda machine for Republicans and Conservatives and they want Obama to fail and are perfectly okay with twisting facts, misrepresenting and blatantly lying about the facts of this Health Care bill and the Conservatives that watch their programming are so blinded by their hatred of Obama that they are so easily willing to neglect the facts that are sitting right in front of their face?
what was the southern strategy employeed in the 1960s by the nixon administration? where did this idea come from to convert dixiecrats (southern democrats) to vote republican? how did it affect the political landscape after the 1960s?
A question for political pundits regarding Democratic candidates for nomination...? If both of the Democratic candidates for Presidential nomination announced they would, and then chose a middle-of the-road Republican person for their VP running-mate, would it be possible to accomplish a definite Democratic win in the fall? It seems the Democrats would all vote for one of he Democrats, and the more liberal Republicans may be swayed tro the Democratic side by Clinton (Republican women & Hispanic voters) or Obama (Republican African-American and younger or more liberal voters). Wouldn't that be a good political strategy to get a Democratic President into the White House, with strong bipartisan support for the Administration from Congress, for the next 4-8 years??
Why are the republicans still a viable party? Is it because they don't mind getting loud. They're willing to flagrantly lie out loud, while also making a huge production out of insignificant and contradictory nonsense that heretofore was never even considered to be a political trespass -- shamelessly and unapologetically amplifying it all to a level of noise that forces the press and voters alike to pay attention. The Republican strategy seems to be: there's no such thing as bad press, so get loud.
Whats the best voting strategy for Americans next November? In light of the political and economic crisis our country faces, I highly recommend voting for Republican challengers for every office. No incumbent should be re-elected from either party. If there are third party candidates they should be ignored because we cannot afford to dilute the conservative vote thus assuring Dems of re-election. This is my opinion, what do you think?
Is part of the reason liberals support "gay marriage", to trivialize marriage for political reasons? Liberals used to argue for civil unions for gays but we all knew once they got it, it would not be enough. Once again, if you bend over for a liberal, they will always demand more. For gays, they want gay marriage, to live equivalent lives to the straight community but that's not what this question is about. Is any part of the reason, not saying the primary or only reason, liberals want gay marriage, is to trivialize the concept of marriage as a political strategy? Communism 101 suggests the path to undermine a capitalist society is to attack its foundation- marriage, faith, family and patriotism. Is it a surprise that these targets have been primary goals for the far left, for years and years? MARRIAGE- For years, Hollywood has touted its biggest stars going through marriage after marriage, racking up divorces like its a contest. Hollywood stars have been crapping on the concept of family and marriage for as long as we can recall. FAMILY- Look at the success liberals have made destroying the family concept- the number of unwed mothers and single parents are higher than ever within the minority groups that liberals exploit for political gain. Hollywood heavily promotes the ghetto/gangster culture through MTV, movies and TV. FAITH- The far left openly has declared war on God, Hollywood and the liberal media try to portray anyone who attends church as a book-burning fundamentalist. PATRIOTISM- Do you recall the horror of liberals when the country pulled together after 911? Liberals were like vampires in sunlight, when the country (briefly) pulled together after the 911 attack. Claiming communist and socialist control of the democratic party does not exist is as ridiculous as claiming that far right Christian fundamentalists do not have some control within the republican party. The question I ask, is whether liberals are even aware that the communist faction of their political party supports the trivialization of "marriage" as a political strategy? Yes, I understand a Kool-Aid drinker will not recognize that they are being manipulated BUT maybe this question might wake up a single "lemming", but maybe not? Are gays just another minority that the far left exploits for political gain?
Is there really that much anger about the Bailout? Or is a lot of it whipped-up faux outrage fomented by (republican) political operatives? You know, like the anti-gov't militia movement during the Clinton years that evaporated when Bush took office. If you disagree with the current strategy on the table, what's the alternative? Is there any role for the Feds to play,? Should sick banks and firms be allowed to die? What comes after?
Clinton has a very sound strategy? Contrary to what most political pundits think, Clinton has a very sound strategy. She knows that she is not going to be a nominee for this year. All she needs to do is portray Obama as an unelectable candidate to make McCain win in November. With a republican in office, Clinton will come back to reclaim her nomination in 2012. This is a very smart woman who knows what she is doing. What do you think?
My fellow true Christians: Are Godly Republicans finally back? Fellow Godly Republicans and non-American true Christians, Let us thank our Christian God in the fact that we have the following leaders that have made themselves known in our behalf as the new leaders of our GOP (Gods Own Party) RUSH LIMBAUGH: Can you think of anyone more qualified to combat the hell bound DEMONcrats on a daily basis? We must all rejoice in the fact that Rush is on our side! One of Limbaugh's most memorable statements of late, was when he stated that he hopes that Obama will fail, therefore, LIEberalism with it, praise! SARAH PALIN: Who in their right mind can't see this Sister of Eve fox in the Oval Office as the president for 2012? So what if she didn't talk about issues, but just railed against Obama in the primaries? They should have let her loose to speak her real mind against the hell bound DEMONcrats, and maybe, WE would be in office today! JOE THE PLUMBER: Joe the Plumber. So what if Joe wasn't a certified plumber, Joe is not a fan of the economic rescue package, and he was a war correspondent in Gaza, and Joe the Plumber is now doing political strategy with Republicans! What more could we ask for? Godly Republicans, thank Jesus and praise Him to allow our new role models listed above take charge of our country in the most near future!
Before Republican's get all full of themselves I have a strategy that would save almost all Dem seats? Why doesn't the messiah and li'l Nancy and Dingy Harry do a Domino's pizza. They turned their fortunes around in three months, but with all that union and George Soro's money they could barrage the airwaves and knock it out in two. Simply admit that they suck, were terrible for America, didn't listen to the people, have been reckless on a biblical scale, were blinded by their marxist icons and that they are willing to change. Start with the messiah going on the "America is a great country" world tour. Christians really are not all that bad and apologize for misrepresenting them for political gain. The Health Care theft was just a goof. They will put it back, no harm no foul..... Li'l Nancy will be flying coach again.... The stimulus, well honest mistake and we got like half of it left. We will put it back. A formal apology to AZ. Admit they just couldn't help themselves when the whole race baiting thing presented itself and they took the bait like a hungry bass. George Bush, come on to the white house and have a beer summit with the big 0 and Biden. The possibilities are endless.
Do you think the Republicans' "starve the beast" strategy is dishonest? The American people have made it clear that they oppose any attempt to reduce or eliminate certain government programs. Is the conservative strategy of pretending to support them while trying to destroy them through indirect means a dishonest way to deal with the American people? "'Starving the beast' is a fiscal-political strategy to use budget deficits via tax cuts to force future reductions in the size of government. The term "beast" refers to government and the programs it funds, particularly social programs such as welfare, Social Security, and Medicare." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starve_the_beast
Has Sarah Palin's fate been sealed, the McCain campaign has to surround her with wagons to protect the public? from the truth? JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) -- GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is effectively turning over questions about her record as Alaska's governor to John McCain's political campaign, part of an ambitious Republican strategy to limit any embarrassing disclosures and carefully shape her image for voters in the rest of the country. (09/17/08)
Does anyone Democratic or Republican realize smearing is an activity for 8 year olds? Yes Obama knows Bill Ayers. No, Obama is not a terrorist. Those who believe so are only doing so out of a religious like affiliation that denies one a capacity to reason (and frankly bad political strategy as the undecided and independent's don't give a fuck about this same old political garbage raking) Democrats, is this really worth dignifying with a response and throwing back Keating 5, his numerous affairs, his drug abusing wife, his nepotistic advantages? Yeah, it'd be awesome if everyone's candidate was an angel but they're not. Why is America US vs Them? What happened to friendly competition opposed to ruthless competition aiming for monopolization? Tell me what you're going to do for me and my family, not that the other guy sucks worse than you. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Why do people on Yahoo! Answers have such extremist and violent political views? Why does every conservative on this site seem to thing that President Obama is a communist who wants to destroy America and kill freedom? And why does every liberal think that Republicans hate-filled warmongers who want to kill the poor? Do we have to just parrot all of the idiotic talking points that Glenn Beck and Michael Moore throw out there? Can't anyone just accept that people have different political views? Is it possible to have rational discussions of policy and political strategy without anyone resorting to unfounded name-calling and threats of violence? Or is that too much to expect from a site where the average commentator appears to have an 8th grade education? Civility, please!
Who will the left blame now that they can't blame Republicans anymore? They've lost the only political strategy they've had for eight years. Now the well is entirely empty.
Has Karl Rove started applying his strategy of electing Republicans by fair or foul means& Obama playing pawn? Karl Rove was the political strategist behind Bush's Texas Governorship followed by US Presidency for 2 terms. His manipulative skills are grudgingly acknowledged in US and World media. When he retired from the White House in June it was intriguing whether he is among the fallen from grace list ,or mice are the first to jump from a sinking ship; while yet others pondered if he is relieved by prez Bush for the onerous job of pulling down Hillary by his well known strategies of hitting hard and in a sustained way at the strengths of the opponent. Here Hillary is not a Republican. To undo her he needs a pawn. Obama with his aggressive and assertive oratory impressed the impressionable. Karl 's strategy is first to do the job from inside. The best is to ensure defeat of Hillary in the primaries itself, though outwardly he tells even if she succeeds in getting her party's nomination she will fail against the Republican opponent. This is a double edged strategy to drive a wedge between the two principal Democratic team and also to get Obama nominated who will present a very easy target for the Republicans to tear apart his campaign with all sorts of vilification about his inexperience, his off the cuff remarks about his goofing in school days, his enthusiastic remarks about Pakistan, Iran etc. He may be no more facing his Democratic colleagues who do not hit below the belt. Two cats fight to benefit the cunning monkey. American voters, The DNC, the Democratic candidates better read through the game plan and do not get lead in to the whirl pool. It is a serious matter. Give America and the world a great President who can retrieve the societies from the war mania and a peaceful anxiety free world.
Should it suprise anyone why the modern republican party is racist, when they came together as racist? In American politics, the Southern strategy is a Republican Party method of winning Southern states in the latter decades of the 20th century and first decade of the 21st century by exploiting opposition among the once segregationist South to the cultural upheaval of desegregation and the Civil Rights movement. Although the phrase "Southern strategy" is often attributed to Nixon political strategist Kevin Phillips, he did not originate it,[1] but merely popularized it.[2] In an interview included in a 1970 New York Times article, he touched on its essence: From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the _N_egro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.[3] --Phillip While Phillips sought to polarize ethnic voting in general, and not just to win the white South, the South was by far the biggest prize yielded by his approach. Its success began at the presidential level, gradually trickling down to statewide offices, the Senate and House, as some legacy segregationist Democrats retired or switched to the GOP.
Why do you think China is becoming more stronger than the Us? The us political system and strategy is old, but no one seems to care.I love the US and I wish i could get a chanel to help american people to revise its path to a better economic system that work for everyone. The group that call itself conservative or republican put the country in the back seat and blame others for their failed and selfish economic policies.I wish someone can help me get on air time to express myself to help the country that all of you love very much. Vive us, Vive american people
Simply stated, what is Karl Rove's strategy to win fall elections for Republicans? Karl Rove has been the king of dirty politics finding emotional triggers to get unsuspecting voters to despise the Democratic candidate, or even the Republican moderate candidates that Rove wants to get rid of. He has used various strategies like getting the "Defense" of Marriage referendums on ballots in time to bring out conservative voters during the 2004 elections. What's he up to now? I would like to see these strategies named so the public will understand his political game up-front. In short, Let's Name the Game!

What political party would match me? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApMZg3sE.Ib_MnkH7K9oLhPsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090605154752AAFubUB After seeing all the bashing from Democrats as well as Republicans, what political party would match me. I am a moderate Republican. I tend to be in the middle. I see flaws in both parties, honestly. Here is what I support: I embrace family values. I oppose gay marriage. I support some form of health care for the poor. LESS TAX! SMALL government! Gun control laws. Strategy in foreign policy and relations. No big government spending. 50/50 on abortion. Depends on situation. Pro-Christian. Pro-minority. No racism! Pro-Constitution (Believe social issues be left to states due to 10th Amendment.) No legalization of marijuana. Salmon, you are obviously criticizing me for having a mostly Conservative base.
Do republicans/conservatives really believe they can/will repeal the health care reform bill? the GOP will never again win a presidential election...the GOP will never again have a majority in Congress...and even if they did, the GOP would never introduce legislation to allow health insurance companies to allow pre-existing conditions to block coverage. the GOP DEFENDING UNETHICAL HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES IS A WOEFUL POLITICAL STRATEGY.
Will the American Insurgents stop committing civil disobedience, if Obama wins? The (2) political parties are so polarized, its obvious to anyone who has objectivity, many liberals actively harm the USA, as a strategy to gain political power for their party. We hear and see, every day, liberals going neagtive, wanting our economy to suffer, bordering on treason over the war, supporting any enemy of the USA, attacking corporations (their primary target), its never ending....... Republicans deserve their fair share of criticism but the worst things that republicans have been doing, are acting like democrats- not sealing our borders, spending money like drunken sailors, not reducing government, not promoting a flat tax so everyone pays taxes in proportion to their income, in summary, the worst thing you can say about a republican, sometimes they act like a democrat! If Obama wins, will the liberals who attack our country, routinely, just focus on corporations, to advance socialism OR will they continue to support our enemies and stay "negative"?
Michael Steele being elected the the RNC. Why does it seem like pandering to me? I feel like his election is part of the strategy by Republicans to reinvent themselves. It's like they are saying to people "Look, we have a black man. We can be progressive and diverse". I don't know anything about Michael Steele; maybe he is fully qualified. But it just feels like political gamesmanship to me.
Considering Republican politics, have the terrorists already won? It is a military fact that those who are attacked tend to respond in kind. The history of the United States of America matches this historical truth, regardless of the politics of the administration being discussed. It's true for all parties equally. The difference, however, is in platform. Democratic administrations, historically, tend to be more goal and less rhetoric minded when executing these types of wars. Consider the stark contrast between the execution of the war in Bosnia and the war in Iraq. Also, the rhetoric of Republican politicians tends to be more focused on security and the military (even if their action doesn't reflect this rhetoric appropriately). Given these political facts, Osama bin Laden would have known that a response was going to come. Forcing us to spend ourselves into oblivion is part of his acknowledged strategy. Given this objective combined with a Republican tendancy to not restrict military spending, have the terrorists already won? Clarification: I'm not arguing that we shouldn't have attacked. I'm focusing on the Republican tendancy to wage "arms race" style spending wars when confronted with a military issue. Regarding historical response: I don't agree with this. Show me some proof that most "historians and experts" disagree with my premise. As a counter-point, though we may not have attacked, we did respond. The 1993 bombing was responded to by the rounding up and negation of the terror cell responsible AND their ideological leaders. An invasion was not necessary. Under Clinton, we did attack terrorist training camps, using cruise missiles and surgical strikes. There was always a response of one form or another coming from the administration (except for with regards to the USS Cole, which is in Bush's lap since there were no answers as to who perpetrated the Cole bombing while Clinton was president.) Historically, we as a nation have often responded to terrorism militarily...
About those political questionnaires in the mail? You know, the democratic and republicans mail them out to voters to give you an opportunity to tell them whats important to you. You check off how important the various issues are to you, i.e., strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree. The ones I receive are from the democrats and they have a question about the war in Iraq. It says: "We were misled by President Bush and his administration into going to war in Iraq. Squandering lives and treasure by launching a preemptive war was a mistake. Further, the administration doesn't have a strategy for ending this quagmire. Diplomatic means should be fully exhausted before committing our country and its people to waging war". And so, the democratic party wants to know our opinion on the war. Democrats could check the box, that they strongly disagree, and still be a democrat. I just wonder if the republican questionnaire's offers the same choice? Or is it a foregone conclusion that all republicans support the war?
Is Mccain a Hero ? This language of war heroism is used unfairly to confuse unjust wars and their architects with the honor of brave soldiers. By promoting the idea that Vietnam was an honorable war and denigrating antiwar Democrats as too weak to "stay the course," Richard Nixon won the election in 1968. He then kept the war going for another five futile years, sustained by that myth. Playing the war hero card has long been a political strategy to elect Republicans; legitimize imperial wars; and portray Democrats and peace activists as weak, cowardly, or traitorous. John Kerry, also a courageous soldier, was swift-boated as a traitor because he became a peace activist in Vietnam. Republicans even did the same to Daniel Ellsberg, a real hero of the Vietnam era. Ellsberg was a war planner who turned against the war and in 1971, at great personal risk, released to The New York Times the "Pentagon Papers," the military's internal and damning history of the war. But as there are no peace heroes, only war heroes in the American moral discourse, President Nixon tried to indict him and many still brand him as a traitor. Ten out of 11 presidents after the Civil War were Republicans, the majority of whom were generals who ran as war heroes. In the 20th century, Republicans continued to serve up war-hero candidates like Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, George H.W. Bush, a strategy that has worked for tens of decades. And now we have John McCain. Please white Knight dont give me that true American BS cause the only true Americans in this country is the native Americans A Hero is a person that saves lives not take THEM
Are republicans voting for Obama in the primaries? I read that a number of republicans are voting for Obama because they know McCain has his nomination clinched. However political analysis shows that McCain is slightly favored to win against Obama but unfavored against Hillary. So the strategy is for republicans to all vote for Obama to have a better chance and coupled with Nader votes the GOP stands to win. With Hillary as the candidate even with the Nader factor, she is likely to win by a slim margin.
If Obama has not be a natural born citizen would the Republicans have attacked? McCain is not a natural born citizen of the United States. Therefore he is ineligible to be our President. However, no one will touch the issue. Obama runs a clean campaign as he said he would. McCain has shown he is the typical political attacker showing a strategy of humiliating and abusing his opponent rather than on his own merit to win. Do you think if Obama was not natural born, McCain and the rest of the Republican party would light a fire storm and go to all lengths to make sure he was ineligible?
Are you a Democrat of Republican and why? I am neither and not considered Independent, I do not support the divide and conquer ganglike political party strategy that our government wants us to fall into while they laugh all the way to the bank with OUR (American people's) money. Join the AMERICAN PARTY, because when the bottom drops out and our country crumbles from within, WE only have each other as human beings to help each other..... all of those politicians in the white house are corrupt and the plan is to vote each and every single one of them out of office next election.... www.readthestimulus.org

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. “Drill here! Drill now! Drill here! Drill now! Four legs good, two legs bad!”? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/08/opinion/08krugman.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin Know-Nothing Politics By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: August 7, 2008 So the G.O.P. has found its issue for the 2008 election. The party’s de facto slogan has become: “Real men don’t think things through.” Opinions on this viewpoint?

By doing this, you indeed are connecting yourself to this person in every way since you indicated that their beliefs were used to mentor and foster your own beliefs. When you look up to someone as a mentor or role model, you are believing in the basic principles of theirs. Obama's open statements to th ereverend being his spiritual mentor and best friend makes his beliefs as suspect as the reverend's. In addition, Obama can now denounce all he wants to but how could he be a parishioner for 17 years and listen to these types of statements if as Obama NOW states are "outrageous"? I think that we need to realy questiob Obama's truthfullness or question his judgement. In either case, the country should seriously reconsider any support for such a candidate. The Wright story was not out when he was getting votes from whites due to his "unity" message. It falls flat now. As I said before, I think he loses that Wright issue any way you slice it. Either he didn't think his church was controversial or he didn't know. Which is it? Supporting someone who you say is your "mentor" who says "appalling" things with thousands of dollars is worse than saying them yourself. At least the pastor is being honest. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7]Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". Keating Five The Keating Five (or Keating Five Scandal) refers to a Congressional scandal related to the collapse of most of the Savings and Loan institutions in the United States in the late 1980s. Following the deregulation of the banking industry in the 1980s, savings and loan associations (also known as thrifts) were given the flexibility to invest their depositors' funds in commercial real estate. (Previously, they had been restricted to investing in residential real estate.) Many savings and loan associations began making risky investments. As a result, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the federal agency that regulates the industry, tried to clamp down on the trend. In so doing, however, the FHLBB clashed with the Reagan administration, whose policy was deregulation of many industries, including the thrift industry. The administration declined to submit budgets to Congress that would request more funding for the FHLBB's regulatory efforts. In 1989, the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, Calif., collapsed. Lincoln's chairman, Charles H. Keating Jr., was faulted for the thrift's failure. Keating, however, told the House Banking Committee that the FHLBB and its former chief Edwin J. Gray were pursuing a vendetta against him. Gray testified that several U.S. senators had approached him and requested that he ease off on the Lincoln investigation. It came out that these senators had been beneficiaries of $1.3 million (collective total) in campaign contributions from Keating. This allegation set off a series of investigations by the California government, the United States Department of Justice, and the Senate Ethics Committee. The ethics committee's investigation focused on five senators: Alan Cranston (D-CA); Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ); John Glenn (D-OH); John McCain (R-AZ); and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (D-MI), who became known as the Keating Five. After months of testimony revealed that all five senators acted improperly to differing degrees, the senators continually said they were following the status quo of campaign funding practices. In August 1991, the committee concluded that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle's conduct constituted substantial interference with the FHLBB's enforcement efforts and that they had done so at the behest of Charles Keating. The committee recommended censure for Cranston and criticized the other four for "questionable conduct." As it happened, Cranston, who was nearly 80 years of age, had already decided not to run for re-election in 1992. DeConcini and Riegle continued to serve in the Senate until their terms expired, but they did not seek re-election in 1994. DeConcini was appointed by President Bill Clinton in February, 1995 to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. [1] Glenn did choose to run for re-election in 1992 and it was anticipated that he would have some difficulty winning a fourth term in the Senate. However, Glenn handily defeated Lieutenant Governor R. Michael DeWine for one more term in the Senate before retiring in 1999. The scandal was followed by a number of attempts to adopt campaign finance reform—spearheaded by U.S. Sen. David Boren (D-OK)—but most attempts died in committee. A weakened reform was passed in 1993. Substantial campaign finance reform was not passed until the adoption of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. The only member of the Keating Five still in the U.S. Senate is John McCain. John McCain was forced to re-invent himself as a campaign reformer in order to keep his seat in the Senate. Now he’s running for President, the biggest lobbyist haven of all. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4]. Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint: Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6] The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7] Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8] Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10] In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11] In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". Will Democrats run FOR something instead of AGAINST something? Hillary Clinton incontestably spoke the truth about the Iraq war this past February at the annual meeting of the Democratic National Committee when she said, “I understand the frustration and outrage, (but) you have to have 60 votes to cap troops, to limit funding, to do anything.” She heard a smattering of boos for enunciating a simple fact of life in the Senate. The Left of the Democratic party didn’t want to hear it, and it forced the Democratic leadership of Congress and the Democratic presidential candidates — eventually including Clinton herself — to act in contravention of this reality, to the party’s serious detriment. There is a limit to how much Democrats can hurt themselves on the war. No matter what they do, the war is still unpopular and a net drag on Republicans. Nonetheless, Democrats have helped drive the approval levels of Congress down to historic lows and suffered an enormous opportunity cost. Throughout this past year, they could have seized the broad middle in the debate concerning the war. They could have worked with a slice of moderate Republicans on legislation that wouldn’t have forced an end to the war, but made them the representatives of a bipartisan alternative to Bush’s strategy. Instead they talked of ending the war outright, positioning themselves to the left of the public and setting themselves an unattainable goal. Thus, they became the party of the impotent left-wingers. They fell victim to all the same dreary failings of overreaching congressional Republicans after their takeover of Congress in 1994 — hubris, self-delusion, and a slavish devotion to their political base. They made a hard timetable for withdrawal their bottom line when they could have gotten Republicans to support something short of that — say, a bill calling for the implementation of the recommendations of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group. The timetable didn’t have the votes, but Democrats figured that if they forced Republicans to keep voting on it, eventually they’d buckle. This meant the Democratic Congress would be characterized by partisan confrontation leading to ... nothing. At least until such time as Republicans caved, which Democrats considered inevitable. They mistakenly believed the Iraq debate could head in only one direction — theirs. Meanwhile, their base locked them into their strategy. A fear stalks the Democratic party — of the bloggers and activists of groups like MoveOn.org who will punish anyone for departing from the strictest antiwar orthodoxy. August was supposed to be the surge’s Waterloo. Republicans would go home and hear from angry constituents about the war. Antiwar groups would hammer them. But Republicans didn’t hear much about the war. Lawmakers from both parties took trips to Iraq where they saw improving security conditions firsthand, and some Democrats were forthright enough to say so. The table was set for Gen. Petraeus’s September report, which Democrats had convinced themselves would be the war’s final gasp. A few weeks ago, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid even fretted that the administration wouldn’t allow Petraeus to testify publicly. All through the summer, Republicans used Petraeus’s September report as a placeholder — urging that we wait to hear from the general — and when he testified, he made as persuasive a case as possibly could be made for the war. Democrats were wrong-footed. Their all-or-nothing opposition to the war made it impossible for them to digest any good news, so they resorted to ham-handed attacks on the general’s credibility. Even the usually shrewd Rep. Rahm Emanuel — architect of the Democratic takeover of the House — blustered, “We don’t need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction.” So, amazingly, President Bush is able to endorse Gen. Petraeus’s recommendation for a conditions-based drawdown in troops from a position of relative strength. Four years into an unpopular, often mishandled war, Democrats are the ones scrambling for a new political strategy. And, as so often happens in politics, they did it to themselves.
Is the Republican Party doomed? In 2000, Team Bush took over the Republican Party and laid out its promises to the American people. The following pledges and claims are taken directly from the 2000 GOP Platform. Should we laugh or cry at promises made by an administration that has ruled through deception, endless war, politicization of intelligence and the Justice Dept., outing CIA officers, and the like? SHARE THIS WITH FRIENDS. Honest Government “Trust, pride, and respect: we pledge to restore these qualities to the way Americans view their government.” Keeping Intelligence Free of Politics "Nor should the intelligence community be made the scapegoat for political misjudgments. A Republican administration working with the Congress will respect the needs and quiet sacrifices of these public servants as it strengthens America's intelligence and counter-intelligence capabilities…” Diplomacy and Maintaining Allies “The arrogance, inconsistency, and unreliability of the [Clinton] administration's diplomacy have undermined American alliances, alienated friends, and emboldened our adversaries." Endless Military Missions, Exit Strategies and Troop Readiness "The current administration has casually sent American armed forces on dozens of missions without clear goals, realizable objectives, favorable rules of engagement, or defined exit strategies.” [Emphasis added.] "Sending our military on vague, aimless, and endless missions rapidly saps morale. Even the highest morale is eventually undermined by back-to-back deployments, poor pay, shortages of spare parts and equipment, inadequate training, and rapidly declining readiness. When it comes to military health, the administration is not providing an adequate military health care system…" Restoring the Rule of Law and the Justice Department The rule of law, the very foundation for a free society, has been under assault, not only by criminals from the ground up, but also from the top down. An administration that lives by evasion, coverup, stonewalling, and duplicity has given us a totally discredited Department of Justice. The credibility of those who now manage the nation’s top law enforcement agency is tragically eroded. We are fortunate to have its dedicated career workforce, especially its criminal prosecutors, who have faced the unprecedented politicization of decisions regarding both personnel and investigations.” Gas Prices (then $1.55 per gallon) “Today, gas prices have skyrocketed, and oil imports are at all-time highs....By any reasonable standard, the Department of Energy has utterly failed in its mission to safeguard America’s energy security. “ For future emails from PDA, click here: http://pdamerica.org/subscribe.php Read whole GOP 2000 platform here: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2000/conventions/republican/features/platform.00/
Do you think the congressional Democrat 'all of the above' energy strategy will work? Democrats plan to return to Washington and the campaign trail next week with a message on offshore drilling that they say will put Republicans on the defensive…. On Capitol Hill, congressional Democrats say they will try to corner the Republicans by offering them votes on their own agenda with Democratic priorities mixed in.”We’re about to do a political reverse takedown on the Republicans,” said Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.). Top House Democrats say that shortly after Congress reconvenes, they will put on the floor a piece of legislation that will include an expansion of offshore drilling but also a renewable electricity mandate, energy-efficiency standards for buildings and oil industry tax provisions. Some Democrats have started to describe the legislation and the broader message on energy as “all of the above” — a term first coined by House Republicans to describe their own legislation. http://climateprogress.org/2008/09/02/congressional-dems-get-smart-on-pushing-all-of-the-above-energy-vote/#more-3700 What do you think the result of this strategy will be? Will congressional Republicans agree to the compromise? Or if they reject it, what kind of ramifications do you think that will have on the November elections?
What Happens If Republicans Keep Cutting Taxes? Ever hear of "Starving the beast"? It's an American conservative political strategy which uses budget deficits to attempt to force future reductions in government expenditure, especially spending on socially progressive programs. The term "beast" is used to denote government and the social programs it funds, including publicly-funded health care, welfare, educational financial aid, and Social Security. Some empirical evidence shows that the strategy may actually be counterproductive, with higher taxes actually corresponding to lower spending: "Controlling for the unemployment rate, federal spending [from 1981 to 2000] increased by about one-half percent of GDP for each one percentage point decline in the relative level of federal tax revenues." The article (written by William Niskanen and Peter Van Doren of the Cato Institute) shows that "a tax increase may be the most effective policy to reduce the relative level of federal spending." Sources include: http://www.wikipedia.org http://www.nader.org http://www.catoinstitute.org http://www.ctj.org The Administration has reduced its economic growth projections but is still arguing that its tax policy is stimulating the economy. President Bush is now touting projections that the federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2007 will be only $205 billion as proof. The projections came Wednesday in the Mid-Session Review from the Office of Management and Budget. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities rightly points out that revenues have increased, reducing the deficit from its high of $413 billion in 2004, but that always happens in an economic recovery, and usually revenues increase by more (by around 12 percent, as opposed to the 3 percent increase that we've seen since the beginning of this economic cycle in 2001). What's more, revenue increased by 16 percent in a similar period in the economic cycle during the 1990s after taxes were increased. Finally, the Administration actually reduced its growth forecast for this year from what it projected back in February. The only thing we would add is that the real deficit is bigger than $205 billion. The Mid-Session Review clearly indicates (on page 32) that the Administration will borrow $180 billion from the Social Security Trust Fund this year to keep the total deficit as low as $205. Social Security is projected to collect $180 billion more in payroll taxes than it will pay out in benefits this year. Social Security was changed back in the 1980s to collect a surplus that would make it easier to pay benefits later on, when the baby boomers retire in large numbers and more Social Security benefits must be paid out. The Social Security Trust Fund is essentially the accounting mechanism that keeps track of this, and it was never intended to be used to make budget deficits appear smaller than they really are. Not counting the Social Security surplus, this year's budget deficit is really $385 billion.
