What do you think of this story!? =D? This is an excerpt from a novel that I'm working on. I haven't edited the grammar, but pay close attention to the plot, theme etc..Please give comments and suggestions as to how I can improve it, and what it lacks.::..Thanks in advance..::.: She opened the door and revealed an intricate array of gold pipes. In fact, everything was gold. Aya explained that she had a thing for gold materials and has been collecting them over the past century or so. There is only one thing Daniel was intrigued about as he walked in the living room. “Why hasn’t anyone stolen this stuff?” he asked Aya. “Well I disguised the items to look like old broken pieces of garbage. I’m not so blind to human nature.” Aya explained, “I know greed.” The whistling pipes caught everyone’s attention. There was so many of them that it was hard to maneuver through the house. There was a gold bird picture hanging on the fireplace mantle and a gold statue of gentlemen in one corner of the dining room. It was of a butler holding a gold plater. In the end, they sat around the living room on fluffy floor cushions. She told them about a secret transportation portal to a hidden world. They didn’t believe her, so she had to convince them again. Aya motioned the entire people move to her backyard. “I want to show you something,” She unveiled a gold fountain, surrounded by bushes of berries and other strange and luring fruits and flowers. “This is the way to your past. You have to jump in the water and then you will be able to go to the home world.” “Jump? In there? But its only 2 inches of water!” Daniel said. Rose looked at her reflection on the water’s surface and started to lean forward for a closer look; grazing the top of the liquid with the tip of her fingers. In a split moment, splashes of water went up into the air. “OH MY GOODNESS!” Jasmine screamed as she saw Caiden and Daniel fooling around. Caiden had bumped into Rose when she was looking in the water and inadvertently caused her to disappear. Reaching for anything to hold her in place, Rose grabbed unto Caiden’s shirt and pulled him under with her. Caiden lets out a scream and a gurgle as he went in head first into the fountain. “Where are they?” Jasmine rushed in on the edge of the fountain, looking for any sign of the two friends. All she saw, however, was just the water and its reflection of the sky. “Hmm…they could be anywhere,” sighed the nurse, “well we have to search for them when we go in, right kids?” Unfortunately, while talking, Jasmine blamed Daniel for what just happened and went into a yelling rampage. The only explanations I can think of are these: The great falling away of the Church as prophesied in 2 Thess. 2:3 meant that he no longer had a corporate church to watch over - though there are said to be 7 angels over the 7 churches (some interpret these are bishops) - but with them all fallen away who is there now to watch over? So when he arises it would mean that he does so for the Elect which we know definitely will and do exist and will receive the Seal of God and survive right through until the Lord returns. But if they have the seal then they are automatically protected from the plagues so why would they need the Guardian of Israel then? Possibly because he could be one of the two witnesses who are connected to the Church when they come forth (the golden pipes going from the two olive trees to the two candlesticks) to supply them with oil. Here's a possible chronology of events prophesied: 1) Woman gives birth to manchild (the Lord). The Dragon (Satan) positions himself (via Rome) to devour the child as soon as it is born. 2) Manichild ascends to Heaven 3) Dragon persecuites woman into wilderness. The great falling away occurs - Pagan Rome becomes Papal Rome - Rome therefore still under the control of the Dragon which makes war with the woman's children. 4) Earth helps woman - pouring our water (peoples?) to absorb the persecution. 5) Woman has children in the wilderness - the Elect. 6) Satan makes war with these 7) Two witnesses show and nourish the Elect (5 Wise Virgins - 144,000). Michael arises and stand up for the Elect and Israel (?). My hypothesis is that he was simply helping Gabriel with the destiny of the nations as he was in Daniels time. When Demonica stepped through the door with a candle in her hand, all she heard was the muffled clink of chains, then everything was silent. Beyond her tiny circle of candlelight, all was dark. She took five more steps into the black. The clack of each footstep against the cement echoed as loud as thunder compared to the silence all around. Demonica waved her candle through the air until it found a boy with eyes and hair as black as night. He was leaning lazily against the wall with his wrists handcuffed to a pole next to him, observing his surroundings for the first time he had the chance. There wasn't much to observe. He was in a small, concrete room with a few rusty pipes running along one wall and a shattered light-bulb hanging from a wire on the ceiling. Then he turned to Demonica. "What do you want, brat?" Demonica flashed a smile. "Well, I was planning on helping you, but if you're going to act like that it might just change my mind." He glared at her with eyes that said: 'take a step closer, you won't like what happens next.' He smirked. "Don't waste your time. I don't need anyone's help, especially yours." "Says the kid who's still helplessly handcuffed to a wall." "Not for long." "Sure. I'd like to see you try to get out of here." "Watch me." "I am." He slid it into the keyhole on one handcuff, wiggled it from side to side, and heard a click. He did the same to the other cuff, and the handcuffs slid off his wrists. Getting to know one of the good guys. Now that was an idea to get used to. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea. After all, Demonica did let him go... "Naw." Danny said out loud. RE-POST: What do you think of my story scene? I already posted this a couple days ago, but i didn't get very many responses so im trying again. I found this scene in a journal I keep for fun that's full of bits of stuff i wrote. I don't even remember what story i wrote this for, but i thought it was pretty good for something I don't even remember writing. Tell me what you think! When Demonica stepped through the door with a candle in her hand, all she could hear was a quick, muffled clink of chains, then everything was silent as the grave. beyond her tiny circle of candlelight, all was dark. She took five more steps into the black. The clack of each footstep echoed against the bare walls and shattered the crushing silence all around. Demonica waved her candle through the air until the light found a boy with eyes and hair as black as the darkness, but with a tiny golden glimmer in them that mimicked the flickering candle flame. He was leaning lazily against a wall with his wrists handcuffed to a rusty pole next to him, observing his surroundings for the first time he had a chance. There wasn't much to observe. He was in a small concrete room with a few old pipes running along one wall and a shattered lightbulb hanging from a wire on the ceiling. Then he turned to Demonica. "What do you want, brat?" Demonica flashed a smile and said, "Well, I was planning on helping you, but if you're going to act like that I might just change my mind." He glared at her with eyes that said: 'take a step closer, you won't like what happens next.' He smirked. "Don't waste your time. I don't need anyone's help, espeicially yours." "Says the kid who's still helplessly handcuffed to a wall." "Not for long." "Sure. I'd like to see you try to get out of here." "Watch me." "I am." The boy studied the floor, probably looking for something to free himself with. There was none. The floor was comepletely bare other that some broken glass lying beneath the lightbulb, and the handcuffs were too tight to slip his hands through. He scowled. Demonica laughed. It looked like who liked to be called the superman of crim had turned to Lois Lane. Demonica set the candle down next to her feet. "You're Daniel, right? Danny Jenson?" Danny just kept scowling at her. Demonica caught herself being mesmerized by his eyes. The glimmery, golden light in them still shone in his eyes, dancing wildly in sinc with the candle flame. They were the most beautiful eyes Demonica had ever seen. "I've heard a lot about you, and I know why you hate me so much. You think good girls and villians shouldn't mix." Demonica reached into her pocket and pulled out a bobby pin, popping off the plastic end and bending the wire twice. "I don't think you're a villian, Danny. Angry at the world, maybe, but not a villian. And you know, You've never really gotten to know one of the good guys." She held out the bent bobby pin out to Danny, and he took it. "Maybe you should start now." Demonica turned and walked out the door, her footsteps echoeing even after she left the room. Danny waited until the footsteps faded into the distance, and then held up the bobby pin to the light. A lockpick. He jammed it into the keyhole on one handcuff, wiggled it from side to side, and heard a click. Sweet success. The cuff slipped off his wrist and clanked against the metal pole. He didn the same to the other side, and the handcuffs hit the floor. Danny took the candle and walked to the door. Getting to know one of the good guys. Now that was something to get used to. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea. After all, Demonica did let him go, after all the rest of his gang ran off without him. "Naw." Danny said out loud. Being bad was too much fun to change sides now. That brat had made a mistake letting him go, and he was going to make sure she knew it... Danny peered through the doorway and realized that he was in the middle of a huge furnace room of some sort. It looked like no one had been there for years, and there was no sign of Demonica or a way out. ...but first things first, he had to get out of that place. That's what I got! Could I be allergic to liquor? I was bored just now I decided to drink some of my dad's Jack Daniels. I've never drunk before. I'm 5'3" 108lbs and I drank about 2 inches of it straight in a normal sized cup. When it went down it stung and I could feel by wind pipe closing, I got chills and immediately got sick to my stomach. Right now I feel dizzy and tired... Am I going to be okay? I drank all of it down in less than 30 seconds. My stomach burns now =[

Can someone comment on my fourth chapter? (part 1)? It wont fit the whole fourth chapter so this is the first half. It has a little pokemon in it. But mainly has violence, some romance, and guns. Please comment see if I should add things. Chapter 4 “Dr. Carson is on a small island north of Shamouti Island,” Kim said looking at the map. Two hours they flew going faster than the sonic boom. They landed on the small island and decided to explore. They looked at the tall layer in the side of the mountain, as they walked closer they fell in a pipe. It soon led them to a cage. “Way to go!” Kim looked at Daniel. “What did I do?” he asked. “Well let’s see I follow you in this stupid cage how are we supposed to get out?” She started to raise her voice. “Well you followed me in here,” He replied. “Oh that is it I am going to…” She got interrupted by a loud shout. “ENOUGH!” The voice screamed. Out of the shadows a man came out in a green shirt, with black pants, covered with a white lab coat. His hair was red with a hint of green highlights running down the sides and middle. “Dr. Carson,” Daniel snickered. “Daniel, Kim comfy. I have finally caught you two worms,” He snared with a glare. “I think you Kim, know my son very well,” He said. Kim gasped as she saw a tall shadow come close to the cage. “Veronica are you ok? You have been sitting there all night,” Misty asked sitting next to veronica. “I’m fine,” She replied as a tear rolled down her rosy cheeks. Misty handed her a glass of punch. “Oh no thanks, God knows what’s in there,” Veronica laughed. “What do you mean?” Misty smiled. “Well beside the sugar and red die number twelve, there could be drugs or alcohol,” She said fixing her glasses once again. “I am pretty sure that it would be illegal to serve alcohol to teens. Plus you need to loosen up just try not to be smart for once and relax,” She said putting her arm around Veronica. Mark walked over and helped Veronica up. “Misty’s right you need to loosen up starting with that dress,” He laughed as he ripped the bottom clean off making it making it into a smaller sized dress. Veronica smiled and undid her hair. Her curly golden blonde hair dropped a little lower than her shoulders. “Now let’s dance,” Misty said as they walked to the middle of the dance floor and joined the crowd. After an hour of dancing the three of them left the party and walked down the street. “Boy I don’t think I ever danced that hard in my entire life,” Misty laughed as Mark put his arm around Misty. They continued to walk until they reached a lake. “What are we doing here?” Veronica asked. “This was our first date,” mark answered kissing Misty under a tree. “Where was yours?” Misty asked looking at Veronica. “Oh with Daniel, we went to the park across from the church and his pokemon served us the most wonderful dinner ever,” She smiled with a sigh as she sat in the soft, dry grass. The moon reflected off the lake and glowed the area around them. “You!” Kim exclaimed as the shadow grabbed the bars of the cage. “Hello love,” The other teen said. “Wait Chris you’re Dr. Carson’s son,” Daniel said trying to keep a straight face. “Yes,” He replied confidently. Daniel started to laugh loudly. “Did I miss something?” He asked. “Wow I feel bad for you walking in your old man’s shadow. You got big shoes to fill,” Daniel said wiping the tear from his eye trying to catch his breath. Chris became enraged and quickly looked at Kim. She backed away. “Shut up!” He exclaimed pulling a gun out. Daniel backed up a little. He pointed the gun at Kim. “I was sent to Jail because of you,” He snarled. “Me?” Kim questioned. “After you broke up with me I stole one of my dad’s crappie inventions and went to the homecoming dance. After that the dean stopped me and saw the weapon so when the cops stopped me I kicked them both in the shins and ran in. I was soon caught and arrested,” He said looking at her as a tear rolled down her face. “I am so sorry; I never meant to hurt you like that. It’s just you were to self absorbed and thought you were the coolest person around when it was Daniel and I,” Kim said calmly walking closer to him. She looked deep in his teary, blood shot, blue eyes. She walked to the edge with the gun placed to her stomach. “Please don’t be like your dad we can change you,” She said grabbing his hand. “Kim I don’t trust him,” Daniel said walking a little closer. Chris screamed pulled the gun and hit Kim in the head. She fell to the cement floor with a thud. Daniel helped his sister up and he looked at her she had a bruise on her cheek.

She still wore the worn-out jeans and her thin red spotted singlet from school. As the wind washed over her body, causing shivers to run down her back, goose-bumps appeared on her arms. Silent as she was, she could still hear her deep breathing. Her eyes were wide, her face expressionless and pale . . . as if she was lost. There were no lights, and every single ride was dark. The clown house, rollercoaster, games area, everything was black and lifeless. Even the Ferris wheel didn’t spin. She spun around, confused by her surroundings. Her shoes, now covered in mud, squished on the wet grass as she walked. She walked silently past the hot dog stand and around the corner. She was surprised by the soft glow illuminating from a distance. As she approached the light, its origin became obvious. It was a green exit sign, mounted onto the door of a ride. It flickered briefly as another soft breeze swept through the abandoned theme park. “Ha! Come on, it’ll be fun!” Nobody was there. “Peter, wait up!” She couldn’t see who was calling. The theme park was still dark and disturbingly empty. “Sophia, Sophia where are you?” Suddenly, hundreds of people whirled past her, rushing in all directions to queue up in lines. “Sophia! Daniel is waiting in line for the Haunted House. Come on!” a blonde girl tugged on her arm. “But . . .” Sophia protested, “Don’t be a party pooper Sophia,” The girl said rudely. “You got lost – as usual.” She pointed to a black painted archway. She could barely make out the shapes outlined by the dim light. “Hey, Ellie, go find Jayne, it’s nearly our turn. We’ll wait here.” Daniel called out to them. “Okay. Good idea.” Ellie disappeared into the crowd of people. Moments later she reappeared with another girl – Jayne. The ride began like any other. The whirring of the gears as the small cart moved forward. Daniel and Jayne sat in the front two seats, whilst Sophia sat next to Ellie in the back. Everything was black. She looked and said to herself, ‘I hate these places’, but not loud enough for Ellie to hear. Ellie on the other hand, had a huge grin spread wide across her face. Was she expecting something? Did she know what was going to happen on this ride? The small cart slowly moved along the metal tracks. It pushed through a pair of wooden doors and stopped. More gears shifted and the cart turned to the left. There was another set of tracks, a sign ‘NO ENTRANCE. MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS’ in bold print was hammered to the wooden wall. But the cart moved forward onto tracks anyway. It crashed through another set of wooden doors, but it didn’t move forward. It fell . . . landing roughly onto the tracks below. Sophia screamed, Ellie, Jayne and Daniel were silent, Ellie still smiling, still expecting, as if it were a game she knew the cheats of. The cart splashed through a small water fall [caused by a burst pipe] and entered a dirt tunnel. The cart suddenly slowed. “Fun, huh!” Jayne turned around, “Yeah . . . fun!” Sophia answered. But she wasn’t having fun. Her heart was beating uncontrollably, and her breathing was once again rigid. “I’d duck if I was you!” Daniel looked at Sophia, laughing hysterically. He had ducked under the handle bar in front of him, bracing himself. Ellie and Jayne did the same. The cart reared forward. Out of nowhere, a sharply pointed silver prop blade sliced through the air ahead. Sophia laughed. It was classic for haunted houses to have killer knives swinging through the air. “That? That’s not even real—” She never finished. The blade sliced through the cart, cutting it into two. Jayne and Daniel’s half disappeared down a secondary track. Ellie and Sophia’s cart continued down the empty track. The deeper into the dirt tunnel the darker it got and the more worried Ellie became. The cart continued down the track. Suddenly, a blood curdling scream shattered the silence. Ellie gulped, trying to contain her emotions. The dirt tunnel ended abruptly, turning into a larger spaced room. This room was unlike the ones at the beginning. This one was dully painted, but one thing stood out amongst the blacks and greys. Its blood red eyes watched as the cart slowly moved closer. The clown wasn’t an ordinary clown. This one scared Sophia. She wasn’t normally scared of clowns, but there was something about this one. Something in those blood red eyes made her shiver. The cart jolted along the tracks, and past the eagerly watching clown. Then everything went silent. The cart stopped. “What’s going on? That sign said no entry?” Sophia asked in a shaky voice. “I don’t know! This wasn’t what we’d planned. It wasn’t supposed to be them on that track.” Ellie looked in all directions, chocking on her words, unable to speak. A bright light shone on an open doorway. A hand appeared. PATH OF THE WAYFARER Over lofty mountain, under sea a thousand fathoms deep, Over wandering cloud, under watchful sun, under night skies that never sleep I am the Wayfarer and my long lonesome path meanders to the west I follow the path to the realm of the setting sun and in my withered hand I clutch an ancient pipe I am the Wayfarer, and I shall pipe a song with zest For the way is long and wearisome, the night young and I sing my impending plight The beautiful sunrise heralds a new day But alas! Is the BP oil well situation becoming hopeless? *please read carefully before answering, thanks* Hello, I live in Vancouver Canada, and I have been keeping track of the situation so far. Apparently, BP may have discovered a large crack in the ocean floor releasing hydrocarbons. If this is true, then how could they possibly stop it? They can barely stop the small pipe from leaking oil, so how on earth could they stop a large crack from spewing out oil, when it is deep under the sea and ground? Could they even stop it, or is it a possibility that it may leak for years to come? Is it hopeless? oh yea, I believe that when BP stated that the low pressure results could be due to depletion that is BS -daniel

Names for triplets - due October 2nd? My family and I are expecting triplets on (or about) October 2nd. My 3 children and very excited, and my husband and I are growing more and more excited with each day that passes. Last week, we sat down with our children to explain the changes that would occur in our household once then triplets were born and our oldest daughter piped up and asked if each of them may name on of the new siblings. My husband and I have discussed it thoroughly over the past week and yesterday, we sat down with the children again, who have spent the past week coming up with names, and asked them what names they were contemplating. Well, bless their hearts, they've given it so much thought and my husband and I are so, so impressed. We are expecting two boys and a girl (I deliberately asked my OB., because I really want 3 boys and 3 girls all up). Our surname is Preston and these are the names our children suggested: Our youngest daughter, Talitha Mae wants to name one boy Cooper James. Our oldest daughter, Chloe Grace, suggested the name Nicole Leigh for her sister. Our only son (at this time), Riley John, wants to name his brother Daniel George (George, bless his heart, being after my father). What do you think? I think they're great names - I'm so proud of my babies.

I love the books, and my point being is that they're damn near as big as harry potter - and those guys kept it in check [except for daniel] there are girls jumping at the bit to find exact replicas of Bellas bracelet for christ sakes - and what brand of clothes and jewelry Kristen perfers. . .now after the pics of Kristen token on a 'bowl', i wouldnt be shocked to not find young girls trying to find the exact same glass pipe, lighten up!

The movie Chasing Sleep??? (Spoiler if you havent seen it)? I have watched the Jeff Daniels movie chasing sleep for the first time last night and i was really disapointed that the film had no closure or explained ending a few questions i need to know otherwise it will just do my head in...ok so Its obvious that he killed his wife but why did the film always related to the pipes and the plumbing, why do the police officer and the doctor take medication all the time and why does the hole in the ceiling change from the bedroom to the piano room at the end can someone just try and explain some of the unexplained things in thwe movie so i can stop thinking about it thank you

After few minutes my water heater stop? I changed the thermocouple, even the valve because it was doing the same thing, I mean the whole front is new! I even removed the pipe down after the main valve to check if it was dirty...nothing!!It's seems that after few minutes I can hear kind of water dripping insinde, maybe on the burner, maybe just condensation??. It's a whirlpool 4 years old, it stopped to work today, just 3 days before Christmas eve... Zionists Seek to Silence Critics of US Policy Toward Israel, what do you think? As far as the Zionist establishment is concerned, the main enemy is not anti-Semitism, but anti-Zionism. Prominent Zionist groups and individuals in the US are conducting a campaign of intimidation against liberal and left-wing critics of the Israeli regime and Washington’s policy toward Israel. Tony Judt, a noted historian and the director of New York University’s Remarque Institute, was to have spoken in New York earlier this month at a meeting called by a nonprofit organization that had rented space from the Polish Consulate. After telephone calls from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee, his lecture on “The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy” was cancelled barely an hour before it was scheduled to begin. Judt, a liberal academic who writes frequently for the New York Review of Books, was born and raised in Britain. He lost many members of his own family in the Holocaust, but has aroused the ire of the Zionist public relations machine because of his sharp criticisms of Israeli policies and his charge that the Israel lobby has stifled debate on the Middle East in the US. The modus operandi of Zionist organizations such as the ADL and the American Jewish Committee is by now a familiar one. “Inquiries” are made by one or another of these groups. The message is clear. As the Polish Consul General said in connection with the contacts made in regard to Judt’s scheduled appearance, “The phone calls were very elegant but may be interpreted as exercising a delicate pressure. That’s obvious—we are adults and our IQs are high enough to understand that.” Abraham Foxman of the ADL cynically insisted that he hadn’t requested that the event be shut down, but added, “I think they made the right decision.” He then spelled out the brazenly anti-democratic and thuggish attitude of himself and his organization toward anyone who criticizes Israel’s policies and Washington’s support for those policies. “He’s taken the position that Israel shouldn’t exist,” Foxman said of Judt. “That puts him on our radar.” To clarify his position toward Israel, Judt remarked, “The only thing I have ever said is that Israel as it is currently constituted, as a Jewish state with different rights for different groups, is an anachronism in the modern age of democracies.” The cancellation of Judt’s lecture is only one in a series of similar incidents. Judt was also forced to cancel another speech, at Manhattan College in the Bronx, on the topic “War and Genocide in European Memory Today,” after he was asked by the event’s sponsors to censor himself by avoiding direct references to Israel. Less than a week after the episode at the Polish Consulate, an almost identical incident took place, this time at the French Embassy. British-based author Carmen Callil had been scheduled to attend a reception on October 10 in honor of her forthcoming book, Bad Faith, an account of the Vichy official who arranged the deportation of thousands of French Jews to their deaths in the Holocaust. This event was also canceled at the last moment, apparently because of complaints over a sentence written by the author in the postscript to the book. She wrote of becoming anxious, while researching the “helpless terror of the Jews of France,” to see “what the Jews of Israel were passing on to the Palestinian people.” She continued, “Like the rest of humanity, the Jews of Israel ‘forget’ the Palestinians. Everyone forgets.” Zionist attempts at censorship have a long and distasteful history, especially in New York City. They are not always successful, but not for lack of trying. Just a few months ago the New York Theatre Workshop cancelled its production of My Name is Rachel Corrie, the play about the American student killed by an Israeli military bulldozer in 2001 as she attempted to stop the destruction of the home of a Palestinian family. The production was halted after similar “inquiries” from Zionist circles. My Name is Rachel Corrie finally opened in Manhattan this month and was met with warm responses from critics and the public. The ADL, the American Jewish Committee and other Zionist organizations disingenuously claim they are not part of a “lobby.” That is supposedly limited to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the organization whose specific aim is to influence the US government on behalf of Israel. In reality, all of these organizations devote themselves to the defense of Israel and its diplomatic and political interests. They are free to do so, but their attempts to silence their critics and smear their opponents as anti-Semites demonstrate their reactionary character. The censorship attempts have extended onto university campuses. Campus Watch, a right-wing web site established by Daniel Pipes several years ago, has drawn up a blacklist that targets professors of Middle Eastern studies for alleged “bias” because they have dared to criticize Israel and defend the Palestinians. Supporters of Campus Watch have encouraged the sending of hate mail and threats to these professors, along with calls for their removal from their academic positions. The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913 to fight against anti-Semitism, has long since betrayed any commitment to civil liberties and academic freedom when it comes to critics—including Jewish critics—of the policies and foreign policy interests of the state of Israel. Even limited opinion polling reveals the growing opposition among American Jews to the decades-long Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, but this doesn’t stop the ADL and similar groups from speaking in the name of all Jews. The power of these unelected spokesmen is magnified many times by their wealthy sponsors and their long-established ties to dominant sections of the corporate, financial and political establishment in New York and Washington. They have succeeded over many years in propagating the myth that Judaism and Zionism are identical, and that anti-Zionism is therefore anti-Semitism. It should be noted that the kind of criticism that Foxman of the ADL says cannot be voiced in New York City is frequently expressed within Israel itself. Israeli newspaper columnists, writers, academics and others spoke out during the recent Israeli aggression in Lebanon. Are they also to be branded anti-Semites and silenced? As Judt himself declared, “This is serious and frightening, and only in America—not in Israel—is this a problem. These are Jewish organizations that believe they should keep people who disagree with them on the Middle East away from anyone else who might listen.” The Zionist organizations involved in such witch-hunting and censorship utilize the issue of anti-Semitism as a red herring. They are really concerned with the foreign policy interests of the Israeli government, and specifically the maintenance of the longstanding alliance between Israel and Washington. The alliance between American imperialism and Zionism was fully cemented some 40 years ago, in the wake of the Six Day War of 1967. Over the past several decades American defenders of the Israeli state have secured the ironclad support of both major capitalist parties, from the most liberal Democrats to the neo-conservatives in the Republican Party and the Bush Administration. Big business politicians have vied to demonstrate their loyalty to Israeli policies, and the occasional maverick who deviates from pro-Zionist orthodoxy, like Republican Congressman Paul Findley some years ago, is usually purged at the next election with the help of millions of dollars in campaign funds from the Zionist lobby. In the recent period, however, public criticism of the existing US policy toward Israel has begun to emerge within American foreign policy and academic circles. To some extent, the feverish campaign to silence all critics of Israel is an expression of the nervousness within American Zionist circles over this emerging policy debate. While the US-Israel alliance has never been closer than during the administration of George W. Bush, there are signs of a possible shift. The disaster facing the US ruling elite in Iraq, along with the deepening external and internal crisis facing Israel, exemplified by its recent debacle in Lebanon, is emboldening those within the American foreign policy establishment who argue that US policy is tied too closely to that of Israel. American Zionist organizations are acutely sensitive to these tremors, hence their attacks on John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago and Stephen Walt of Harvard University. Mearsheimer and Walt authored a paper earlier this year which charged that the Israel lobby had distorted US foreign policy and sought to intimidate its critics. An article by Mearsheimer and Walt in the London Review of Books was entitled, “The Israel Lobby: Does it Have too Much Influence on US Foreign Policy?” The lobby was defined as “the loose coalition of individuals and organizations who actively work to steer US foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction.” Mearsheimer and Walt articulate the views of a section of the American ruling elite which has concluded that Washington’s virtually uncritical support for Israeli foreign policy has produced a diplomatic and political disaster for US interests in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world. The publication of these views was followed by hysterical charges of anti-Semitism against the authors, who were accused of stoking up anti-Semitic notions of an international Jewish conspiracy. Socialist opponents of Zionism and imperialism do not take sides politically between Mearsheimer and Walt and their Zionist critics. The policy shift they propose, while it enrages the Zionists, has nothing to do with the interests of the international working class or the democratic rights of the Palestinians, and they are opposed to a struggle against both the Israeli and Arab bourgeois elites to unite Jewish and Arab workers on the basis of a democratic and socialist program. We have no hesitation, however, in denouncing the crude charges of anti-Semitism leveled against Mearsheimer, Walt, Judt and similar critics of Israel. There are, of course, anti-Semites among the opponents of the Israeli state, and they repeat the old anti-Semitic slanders. There are also a large number of anti-Semites among Israel’s supporters. Richard Nixon, whose virulent anti-Semitism was exposed on White House tapes in the wake of the Watergate scandal, had no difficulty aligning himself with Israel. Today the Zionists welcome the support of Christian fundamentalists who would like nothing more than the establishment of a right-wing theocracy in the US. As far as the Zionist establishment is concerned, the main enemy is not anti-Semitism, but anti-Zionism. When it suits its purposes, it is perfectly prepared to recognize this vital distinction and “overlook” the anti-Semitism among its own supporters. Hence the warm accolades from the Israel lobby to such figures as Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian prime minister, who received an award from the Anti-Defamation League in 2003 just days after expressing nostalgic sympathy for the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. To the extent that anti-Semitism has gained a new lease on life in the Middle East and elsewhere, this is largely the responsibility of Zionism itself. The anti-Semitic pronouncements of such figures as Iranian President Ahmadinejad are essentially the mirror image of Zionist propaganda, accepting the claim of the Israeli state to speak for all Jews and the interests of the Jewish people. In fact, for the first half-century of its existence, Zionism was a distinct minority opinion within world Jewry. Its main opposition historically came from the left—from the socialist and internationalist opponents of all forms of nationalism and chauvinism. The attempt to smear left-wing critics as anti-Semites is one of the most despicable techniques of the Zionist propaganda machine. The current attacks on even relatively mild critics of Israel are a sign of weakness. Longstanding Zionist myths are being increasingly exposed to the light of day. The fraudulent charge of anti-Semitism is beginning to backfire against those who level it. The flagrant character of the Zionist intimidation campaign is such that even some committed Zionists have been forced to question it. The current issue of the New York Review of Books contains a letter entitled, “The Case of Tony Judt: An Open Letter to the ADL.” The letter, signed by more than 100 writers, journalists and academics, criticizes the ADL’s actions in connection with the planned meeting at the Polish Consulate, declaring that “we are united in believing that a climate of intimidation is inconsistent with fundamental principles of debate in a democracy . . . the rules of the game in America oblige citizens to encourage rather than stifle public debate. We who have signed this letter are dismayed that the ADL did not choose to play a more constructive role in promoting liberty.” Among the signers are Peter Beinart, Franklin Foer and Leon Wieseltier, all of the New Republic, one of the most vociferous defenders of the Zionist state. Finding a job in Boston? Well I have exhausted every effort I can think of searching for a job in Boston - where I currently reside - and have stretched my arm out to every resource and network I have, including monster.com, bostonrecruiter.com, craigslist.com, 2 different staffing agencies, friends, family, random people I meet at public places, as a "walk-in", etc. I'm a 2008 grad of Ohio University with a B.S. in Industrial Technology with a focus on Manufacturing Information Technology and a minor in Business Management. I don't necessarily want to work in that career field, but I will take what I can get. I would like to go back to school for my Masters in another field. For now, I cannot seem to grasp any real job leads, and when and if I do, they are already taken or responded to by the hundreds/thousands of unemployed citizens of Boston metro. Even labor/bartending/hospitality/construction/concierge/landscaping opportunities are either taken already, or they have so many applicants that have replied, they can be "choosy" on whom they want to employ. I know that there are unemployed people out there with their Masters and even Doctorates looking for work, even labor jobs, just to pay the bills. My question is, is there anyone, ANYONE, that may have somewhat of a job lead for this individual? It's pretty bold and drastic to ask such a question on here, and I don't want to sound "desperate", but let's face it, I am, and so are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans.
